Installation

Install the Figma plugin

  1. Visit the Figma Community page
  2. Click Install on the pdf.tomake.design plugin
  3. Open any Figma file (or FigJam, or Figma Slides)
  4. Go to Pluginspdf.tomake.design
The plugin works in Figma, FigJam, and Figma Slides — both desktop app and browser version. All processing happens locally on your machine for complete privacy.

Your first conversion

Step 1: Open the plugin

  1. Open or create a Figma file
  2. Navigate to Pluginspdf.tomake.design
  3. The plugin panel will open

Step 2: Upload a PDF

  1. Click Choose PDF or drag and drop a PDF file
  2. The plugin analyzes your PDF locally (nothing is uploaded)
  3. Preview shows page count and file information
Your PDF never leaves your computer. All processing happens 100% locally in your browser for complete privacy and security.

Step 3: Choose your conversion mode

Select the mode that fits your workflow: Editable Vector Layers (Recommended)
  • Best for design work requiring full editability
  • All vectors converted to native Figma paths
  • Text preserved as editable text layers
  • Perfect for iterating and modifying designs
High-Fidelity SVG
  • Best for maintaining exact visual appearance
  • Converts to SVG for precise rendering
  • Ideal for logos and brand assets
  • Preserves complex effects and styling
Rasterized Images
  • Best for quick previews and references
  • Fastest conversion method
  • Perfect for mockups and presentations
  • Smallest file size

Step 4: Configure additional options

Page Selection
  • All pages: Import every page from the PDF
  • Page range: Specify pages (e.g., 1-5, 8, 10-12)
  • Current page only: Import just one page
Layout Options
  • Customize spacing between pages
  • Choose frame arrangement
  • Set page alignment

Step 5: Import

  1. Click Convert to Figma
  2. Watch the parallel processing in action (typically 5-30 seconds per page)
  3. Pages appear as frames in your Figma file

Step 6: Edit in Figma

Your PDF content is now in Figma with:
  • Each page as a separate frame
  • Text as editable Figma text (in Editable Vector mode)
  • Images extracted and organized
  • Vector graphics preserved as native paths
  • Layout and spacing maintained

Import tips

Use Editable Vector Layers when:
  • You need to modify text, shapes, or layouts
  • Building design systems from PDFs
  • Creating reusable components
Use High-Fidelity SVG when:
  • Exact visual appearance is critical
  • Working with logos or brand assets
  • Complex effects must be preserved
Use Rasterized Images when:
  • You need quick references
  • Creating mood boards
  • File size matters most
For documents with many pages:
  1. Use page range to import 10-20 pages at a time
  2. Thanks to parallel processing, large documents convert quickly
  3. Organize pages into sections in Figma after import
